After finishing New York State approved didactic training in home health care are three new graduates with their instructor Siobhan Toomey,RN.
Second only to direct personal home care of patients is Kearney Home Care Services' serious involvement in the ongoing training of its Professional and Certified Staff members. Throughout the year, we offer training, re-training and updating courses, in our own state-of-the-art facilities, to every member of our inter-disciplinary professional health care team.
Foreign graduate nurses and nurse's aides receive transition training in a classroom setting, together with orientation to the home care module. They also complete the Standardized Assessment Methodology required by the New York State Department of Social Services for competence testing of qualified individuals.
Home Health Aide candidates undergo a rigorous two-week, 80-hour training course specially designed to be a professionally supervised clinical experience, part of which is in an actual patient setting. The faculty is composed of members of our inter-disciplinary professional health care team. Successful graduates become Certified Home Health Aides.

Kearney Home Care Services Inc. is happy to announce the continuation of the Personal Care Aide Training Program during 2006.
This course is a forty hour program, Monday through Friday, starting at 8:30 AM and ending at 5:30 PM each day. There will be a one hour intermission for lunch from 12:30 to 1:30 PM.
The written examination times will be as follows:
There will be an additional practical & return demonstration exam on Saturday Morning from 8:30 to 10:30 and all students attending are required as per agency policy to wear white.
A Home Care Core Curriculum will be supplied to each qualifying candidate during the introductory session on day one of the program.
This program has been approved by the New York State Department of Social Services and will be delivered by a number of professionals of various disciplines, who are employees of Kearney Home Care Services, Inc. They include a Medical Doctor, Registered Nurses, a Registered Dietitian and a Social Worker.
A set of criteria for admission into the training program has been established, and is available on request.
Candidates who successfully complete the course and meet the required grades will receive certification and will be eligible to use the title of "Personal Care Aide."
